7:50 -8:30  Panel: The Growing Role of IT in Accommodation of Disability: the impact on worker productivity and the challenges to IT

  • The impact of powerful new Adaptive/Assistive Technology (AT) software to employee productivity:  AT has made large advancements in recent years.  It is no longer necessary to type into computers or to see the screen to excel in computer use and be productive. 

  •  IT staff are key leaders in accommodation teams around installation, customization, and maintenance of adaptive technology software on workstation computers and within networks. How the IT interface with HR around accommodation works.

  • The interface of IT professionals, accommodation requests, and AT expertise: Go it alone? Bring in help? How to assess the need, find the right AT software, get it working and keep it working.

  • Challenges to IT staff around accommodation.

Presenters will discuss how IT professionals are part of the accommodation team at Comcast and Bonneville Power, how AT helps employees in the workplace, and the how-to's of bringing there successful practices into various business environments.
