Description

Training materials are readily available on ADA, adaptive equipment, and disability etiquette, but is that all that is needed to prepare Oregon business to confidently recruit and retain the talents of workers with disabilities in the coming labor shortages?  Please join us for this interactive discussion with peers.

This training design session will be facilitated by Jerry Gjesvold, a highly regarded trainer of Oregon business around workforce issues.  He has many years experience and will work with the participants to pull out training interests around topics of most concern including finding suitable talent, interviewing, return to work issues, personnel evaluation of workers with disabilities and performance reviews, progressive discipline, firing, and documentation.

Goals of this training design session:

  • Consider the most pressing concerns and successful practices associated with managing the talents of workers with disabilities,

  •

  • Review information from BOLI and the Job Accommodation Network of the most common difficulties they consult with managers regarding,

  •

  • Develop a bulleted outline of a clear eyed, practical training for managers and supervisors on confidently managing workers with disabilities using the existing policies, procedures, and tools that pertain to all employees.

  •

  • Look ahead at next steps in developing and testing such a training
