Notes from Meetings:

October 25, 2007 - MS Word document

September 19, 2007

  • Linda Van Doran announced that Portland Red Cross had hired 2 of the people that she had seeking employment. How great is that.

  • Lucy Baker gave us a few minutes on who she is and what she does to keep the OBLN moving forward. As well as the mission of the OBLN.

  • Todd Londin discussed the Eugene Workforce experience and the group thought it should be part of the Salem mission to work at developing a project modeled after the outstanding Eugene event. We would need to find some one to chair the program, Linda Van Doran suggested that either Chemekata or an agency with a staff person who is paid work on this. It was generally agreed that it would take from 5 to 8 hours per month for that person.

  • Dominic Spedale said that he would contact the Salem Chamber of Commerce, regarding this matter.

  • Lucy said that there was a great short video that could be posted on “You Tube” she was going to bring a copy to the next meeting on a DVD for us to see.

  • We still need to recruit business to get involved, We were going to contact Jenny Wilkens at the Small Business Journal for her take and interest in our program

  • The Development of the web site, where “Job developers” and post potential employees and hopefully network  to find them jobs, and business can post jobs where Job Developers can hopefully position their people for an interview, I understand from Lucy that it is in the works.
